Aminogro Technical Information
Introduction
In an optimum production system environmental stress to plants is the most
limiting factor to the quality and yield potential of your crop. Environmental
stresses prevent a plant carrying out its natural metabolic processes. Hence
plants cease production of proteins and carbohydrates which then limits quality
and yields.

Amino Acid Based Plant Biostimulation
The basic management objective for maximizing net photosynthesis (plant food
production) and minimizing physiological disorders is to provide the best
possible growing conditions for uniform growth throughout the growing season.
Uneven growth results from environmental (temperature flucuations, frosts,
moisture levels, salt levels, chemical damage) stresses.
Any mechanism or means of assisting plants to maintain more uniform and
lasting growth, particularly during periods of intermittent stress, will
minimize the chance of yield and quality loss during periods of adverse
conditions. Aminogro was designed for this purpose through using L form amino
acid based plant biostimulation.
Enzymatic Hydrolysis
Aminogro® contains the L form amino acids normally produced by plants. It is
manufactured using a process called enzymatic hydrolysis. The process extracts
amino acids from carefully selected marine waste material, utilising specific
enzymes to break the peptide bond of protein. Unlike other types of hydrolysis,
(acid and alkaline) enzymatic hydrolysis extracts free L form amino acids which
are biologically active (100% plant available).
Role of L form Amino Acids in Plant Function
Amino acids, the building blocks of all protein matter, are natural molecules
that take part in all of a plant's physiological processes. The action of amino
acids provide the natural self-protective plant functions that control
photosynthetic activity (plant food production) and water and nutrient use
efficiency of plants.
Plants normally produce their own L form amino acids by performing a
synthesis (joining together of plant compounds) of the required amino acid or by
hydrolysis of a particular protein (the taking apart of plant proteins) that
contains the amino acid. The amino acids are also transported throughout a plant
so that they are available when and where they are needed.
These activities employed by a plant to produce their own L form amino acids
require extraordinary use of energy by a plant.
The exogenous or foliar application of L-amino acids greatly reduces the
energy used by a plant for their production and translocation. The energy saved
can be used by a plant for other vital processes resulting in more uniform and
lasting growth, particularly during periods of intermittent stress.
The net result is a healthy and efficient plant that is more able to
withstand the various stresses caused by adverse conditions, as well as pest and
diseases attack.
Plant Stress Management and Nutrition
Adding Aminogro® to your normal plant nutrition program is an economical and
ecologically sound approach to plant stress management and well balance plant
nutrition for better cropping rates and quality.
Generally stress conditions cause several common
reactions in plants:
*Photosynthesis stops (plant energy production stops)
*Respiration increases (plant energy use increases)
*Stomata closure (vital gas exchange is reduced)
*Initiation of premature foliar senescence (leaves begin to die)
*Variation of internal water potential and osmotic pressure (reduces plant
nutrient uptake and movement throughout a plant)
*Increase of Abscisic acid (ABA) which causes the fall of flowers, leaves and
fruit.
The action of the L form amino acids in Aminogro combat these reactions
by:
*Increasing water potential
*Regulating osmotic pressure
*Slowing down the photorespiration process
*Increasing net photosynthesis
*Preventing stomatal closure
Chelating Properties of Aminogro®
The chelate formed by L form amino acids and a metallic ion retains the
properties of the two compounds of the chelate and maintains its biological
activity at the cellular level.
The chelate has the following features:
*It is not phytotoxic (will not burn a plant)
*It facilitates the absorption of nutrients by increasing the permeability of
the cellular membrane
*It maintains iron and calcium solubility, thus strengthening the action and
absorption of iron and calcium chelates
The effectiveness of the L form amino acid chelates in Aminogro is
particularly high at the foliar level and can remedy minor deficiencies in a
plant that often have no visible symptoms.
Pollination and fruit-setting
Crop yields are a direct function of a successful pollination and fruit set. It
is very important that the pollination and fertilization processes must occur
under optimum conditions.
The application of Aminogro contributes to a successful pollination and fruit
set:
=> The amino acid is a nutritive attraction for pollinating insects. It is
mostly important for the insect pollination species.
=> The nutritive substances located in the pollen grain are sometimes not enough
to nourish it during all its cycle. The application of extra nutritive sources
are necessary in order to complete its development. Amino acids are one of the
vital nutritive sources of the pollinic tube development.
The addition of proline (amino acid) and glutamic acid (amino acid) increases
the germination quality of the pollen grain and makes a longer pollinic tube.
This significantly increases the fertilization of ovules in the ovary and hence
successful and complete fruit set.

FOLIAR APPLICATIONS
Due to the nature of amino acids and micronutrients Aminogro® is best applied to
the foliage of plants. To achieve best results with Aminogro® always apply with
Synertrol®Horti Oil and spray both top and underside of foliage. Synertrol®Horti
Oil @ 2.5ml/L of water will increase spray coverage, rainfastness and reduce
drift and spray odour.
Vegetable crops and Tomatoes:
Rate: 10ml/L every 10-14 days
Berry crops:
Rate: 10ml/L every 10-14 days during cropping phase
Wine Grape Vines:
Rate: 5L/ha every 10-14 days from bud swell up to pea size berries stage.
Further sprays may be required after veraison if hot weather (over 300C average
daily temperature) persist into grape maturity. Two post harvest sprays are also
advised to improve carbohydrate reserves for next seasons crop.
Tree Crops (nuts, pome fruit, stone fruit, mangoes and exotic tree crops):
Rate: 10L/ha every 20-30 days.
Nursery, Seedling, Cutflowers, Herbs,
Bananas,Sugarcane
Rate: 5ml/L every 10-14 days. Seedlings should be sprayed approx. 5 days before
emergence. After emergence apply twice weekly for 2 weeks then every 10-14 days.
Treat sugarcane sets with a 20ml/L solution in the dip
Turf: Rate: 5ml/m2 every month.
Citrus, Ferns, orchids, carnations and other known sensitive species.
Rate: 4ml/L every 10-14 days
SOIL APPLICATIONS
Application of Aminogro® should be applied or injected into the irrigation
system towards the end of watering. It is necessary to apply enough water to
carry Aminogro® into the top 20cm of the soil profile
Annual Crops
Apply to soil before planting @ 40L/ha with Synertrol® Horti Oil @ 1L/ha. Good
results are to be achieved also if Aminogro® is sprayed with pre-emergent or
other non-selective herbicides prior to ground preparation. Aminogro® will
assist in speeding up the breakdown of trash and weed residue.
Perennial Crops
Apply at 40L/ha just prior to budswell, fruit set, and vegetative flushing.
COMPATIBILITY
Aminogro® can be mixed with most commonly used horticultural and garden sprays.
However, the performance of some products may be affected by the suspended
solids in this product so that they become either non-effective or phytotoxic to
the crop being sprayed. Always check the pesticide spray labels for
compatibility with foliar fertilisers or to be safe, test the mixture on a small
area, before widespread application.
